- The Arch Company becomes theUK’s largest small business landlord
- Immediately launching a Tenant Consultation to understandtenants’needs
- Committed to a tenants first approach, involving engagement with all tenants and communities in an open and responsive manner
The Arch Company, a joint venture between Telereal Trillium and Blackstone Property Partners, launches today as the sale of Network Rail’s commercial estate business in England and Wales is completed. The new company will manage a portfolio of around 5,200 properties, making it the UK’s largest small business landlord, serving thousands of business owners who make a unique and vital contribution to the UK economy.
The Arch Company is committed to taking a tenants first approach, based on engagement with all tenants and communities in an open and responsive manner. A comprehensive consultation will commence immediately and will continue engagement that has already started with interested parties such as local councils, mayors, MPs, tenant groups and the Federation of Small Businesses as well as hearing directly from business owners
The consultation will run for two months, until 4 April, and The Arch Company is encouraging all tenants to participate by completing a survey launched today. The results of the consultation will feed into a new enhanced Tenants’ Charter, which will outline how The Arch Company will work with the thousands of small businesses, from car mechanics to bakeries and restaurants, mostly housed in converted railway arches
Another crucial priority in the company’s business planis to unlock the full potential of the property portfolio by investing to bring several hundred currently disused arches into use, providing much needed space for many more entrepreneurial small businesses to startup
Adam Dakin, Director at The Arch Company and Managing Director, New Business and Services at Telereal Trillium, said:
We want to get our new relationship with our tenants off to the best possible start by listening to their views. The estate is unique in its character and we are excited by the tremendous opportunity for us to contribute to its continued revitalisation, recognising the role our tenants play in stimulating economic activity at the heart of their local communities. We believe that our long-term success rests on strong relationships with our tenants, as well as with local communities and local government. That is why we are launching a comprehensive consultation today. This consultation will inform our strategy going forward and feed into the Tenants’ Charter we are developing.“We strongly believe that supporting successful small businesses and ensuring they flourish over the long term will be crucial to our success. As Britain’s largest small business landlord, we are eager to create an environment in which our tenants thrive.”
