About The Bermondsey Project

In October 2022, Greystar purchased the former Peek Freans Biscuit Factory site, and are thrilled to be delivering the long-awaited Bermondsey Project.

Greystar Real Estate Partners is an international real estate and developer. Greystar has nearly 30 years’ experience investing, delivering, and managing rental housing, and has an exceptional track record of building and managing homes for rent. Our experience in sustainable regeneration makes us uniquely well-placed to deliver the planned homes and develop long-term partnerships with our neighbours. With 30 years of experience and an exceptional track record of building and managing homes for rent, Greystar is uniquely well-placed to deliver the planned homes, and develop long-term partnerships with our Bermondsey neighbours.

Training and employment opportunities

Led by Storey Consulting, Greystar are working alongside the Skills Centre, Southbank University, Construction Youth Trust, Jobcentre Plus, and locally based third sector organisations such as Big Local Works to identify and recruit local candidates for apprenticeships, traineeships, and job placements within our projects. Our aim is to create pathways that support local people into long-term employment, both during the construction phase and in the end-use of our developments. By developing skills that increase accessibility to these opportunities, we strive to improve employment prospects for disadvantaged groups and the wider community.

The Bermondsey Project is expected to generate around 1,200 jobs at the peak of the demolition and construction process, and up to 1,290 permanent jobs through long-term commercial activities, including retail, leisure, catering, office roles, and on-site facilities management. Our focus on local recruitment and skills development aims to boost employment within the community, ensuring more local people can secure stable jobs and thrive in a variety of industries.
